The Experienced Midwife route of entry for applicants with extensive non-conventional training and experience will be discontinued December 31, 2019. All Experienced Midwife applicants in the middle of their application process should be prepared to submit their completed application before December 31, 2019.
Will experienced midwives be able to become CPMs after December 31, 2019?
Yes, there will continue to be several routes to certification:
- If you are currently licensed or hold other legal recognition from one of the states approved by NARM where your educational requirements have been documented through the state’s process, you can qualify for certification if you have taken the NARM Examination for state licensure or recognition.
- If you are certified by the ACMB as a CNM/CM, you may apply for CPM certification with documentation of experience as a primary midwife or primary under supervision in out-of-hospital birth.
- You can complete the entry level PEP process or attend a MEAC accredited school.
