The NARM Accountability Program is responsible for addressing complaints filed regarding the conduct of a CPM or CPM applicant (student), that allege fraud or dishonesty; conditions that impair professional performance; sanctions imposed by a state regulatory agency or board; conduct not consistent with professional midwifery standards; breaches in confidentiality and unethical and unprofessional conduct. For a detailed list please see the Accountability Policy here.
The Accountability Program will consider complaints filed by midwifery clients, state licensing and regulatory bodies, QA programs, any individual or entity with direct knowledge of relevant facts or a CPM applicant.
Accountability Case Reviews include the review of all documents related to the case and interviews with the CPM (Respondent). Case Reviews are conducted by an Accountability Review Committee (ARC) composed of NARM Accountability Program staff and members of a volunteer Peer Reviewer Pool

Failure or refusal to participate in the Accountability Case Review will result in revocation of the CPM credential or denial of the CPM application.
The NARM Accountability Program is responsible for addressing complaints filed about the Registered Preceptor/Student relationship if they pertain to the complaint criteria found in the Accountability Policy. Issues related to Preceptor/Student relationships that do not meet these criteria will be referred to the Applications Department for review of standards for PEP preceptors.
