Frequently Asked Questions: NARM Members
What is Provisional Membership and Who is Eligible?
Provisional membership is a temporary membership class established to facilitate the election of a new, permanent board.
Eligibility includes:- All active, inactive, and retired CPMs (excluding those with revoked or expired credentials)
- All active applicants (students with an active Certemy account)
- Allied community members (stakeholders who support or work with CPMs, such as educators, business owners, or healthcare collaborators)
All provisional members will complete a membership application in Certemy. Existing Certemy users will have their information pre-populated but must complete the workflow to be added to the membership database.
If I am Eligible, am I Automatically a Member?
No. To vote, those eligible must complete the membership application. (See “How to Become a Member” above)
Is There a Cost to Join as a Provisional Member?
No. While the recommended annual membership fee is $15 (to cover administrative costs), the fee is waived for the initial provisional membership period to encourage broad participation and quickly build a representative membership base. Future membership fees and benefits will be determined by the newly elected board.
What Rights do Provisional Members Have?
Provisional members have the right to:
- Vote in the upcoming board election (all member types may vote for CPM and public member seats; only students/applicants may vote for student/applicant seats)
- Access the member portal, which will include secure voting, open forums for feedback, and foundational documents (e.g., bylaws, board actions)
Additional rights and benefits may be established by the permanent board after the election.
What is the Provisional Nature of this Process?
The current membership and board election process is provisional and is being implemented as a temporary structure to facilitate NARM’s transition to a more engaged, member-driven organization. This process is authorized under Article V. Membership of the current NARM Bylaws, which allows NARM to have non-voting members as determined by the board. The provisional membership process is being carried out under this authority, with the understanding that the newly elected board will have the power to amend the bylaws, establish permanent membership classes and rights, and further refine NARM’s governance structure as needed. The provisional nature of this process means that all aspects—including membership rights, board structure, and governance policies—may be revisited and amended by the new board to best serve NARM’s mission and the needs of its members.
