Courtney Everson PhD

NARM and the Midwives Alliance of North America Division of Research (MANA DOR) have partnered with GOLD Learning to present a webinar on Evidence-Informed Practice! Courtney Everson PhD will present this three-part workshop introducing midwives to the evidence-informed practice (EIP) framework: what it is, why it’s important, and how to make it work for you!

By examining evidence-informed practice at practice, community, and professional levels, midwives will be equipped with the tools, skills, and knowledge necessary to integrate evidence-informed practice into midwifery care, leveraging shared decision-making, and optimizing care for childbearing families.

The three workshops can be taken stand alone or, for the greatest impact, as a series, where one builds upon another! Each session is only one hour, prepared especially for busy midwives!

The first session in the series is, “Evidence-informed Practice 101: The Foundational Framework.” This session covers laying the groundwork for evidence-informed practice, focusing on the EIP cycle, and how to use it for client-level care.

The second session is, “Research Literacy & Community Birth: Applying Evidence-informed Practice during Clinical Care.” This session is all about pragmatic strategies for integrating research into clinical practice flow in community birth settings.

The third session is “Integrating Research into Midwifery Community: Evidence-informed Practice in Action.” This final session describes the next level of EIP: practical strategies for using research on community and professional levels to advance midwifery excellence.

The three-part series has been approved by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC) for 3 Continuing Education Units.
