Along with our new web design, NARM has just unveiled updated language on our Accountabilty page and in our online Candidate Information Booklet on Informed Disclosure for Midwifery Care and Informed Consent requirements for CPMs.
In seeking to clarify existing requirements and align CPMs to meet the needs of women in the context of health reform mandates related to shared decision making and preference sensitive maternity care, NARM utilized multiple resources in this refinement of language.
Key Resources
The MANA Core Competencies and the NACPM Standards for Practice were reference points for the inclusion of informed patient choice as a benchmark for best practices in midwifery care for CPMs. We also utilized language and direction from the Transforming Maternity Care Blueprint for Action: Steps Towards a High Quality High Value Maternity System and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010.
